Examples of Rose Water Applications:
• Delicate perfume – rose water smells exactly the same as fresh petals. On days when you travel or don’t want to wear too much perfume, rose water is the perfect solution.
• Facial Tonic – Rose water as an important ingredient in many skin care products is probably found in your tonics, creams and lotions. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it soothing for dry skin. In Morocco, it is often mixed with argan oil and used as a homemade makeup remover. Add a tablespoon of rose water to a tablespoon of distilled water and get a softening tonic.
• Rinsing hair – another way you can use rose water is to use it as a hair rinse (2 tablespoons per 1 cup of water). After shampooing and conditioner, the hair should be rinsed thoroughly and then supplemented with a mixture of rose water. It is excellent for the skin and leaves a very delicate smell.
• Body Treatments – The diverse benefits of rose water for skin care make it an interesting addition to home body treatments. You can mix rose water with your daily body cream, add it to your scrub or directly into your bath water. A rose-smelling bath at the end of a long day is the best antidote to stress.
• Fragrant bedding – a recipe for sweet dreams and much more! Add 3 tablespoons rose water for every 1/2 cup of water and pour into a spray bottle. Before going to bed, lightly spray the bedding with fragrant water.
• Yogurt and milk desserts – almost all milk-based products are perfectly combined with rose: cream, yogurt, fresh cheese. Add a touch of rose water to your pannacotta or rice pudding. Be careful not to add too much, as the taste of the rose can be very strong. An interesting recipe is also Indian yogurt mousse with rose and saffron.
• Lemonade and tea – because rose and lemon share some common flavor ingredients, it is natural to mix them. Start by adding a teaspoon of rose water to your favorite lemonade. Also, a teaspoon of rose water added to the tea will give it a great taste and aroma.
• Cakes and cookies – old Russian cake recipes often include rose water as one of the optional flavors, along with vanilla, cardamom, lemon zest and cognac. Added to a cake or butter cookie dough, rose water won’t make them taste like perfume, but it will give them more depth and complexity. A tablespoon of water for each cup of flour is the optimal amount.
• Blueberry fruits and fruit salads – raspberries, strawberries and even apples blend well with the aroma of rose. In summer, serve raspberries with rose water, sugar and a pinch of thyme.
• Almonds and pistachios – if you are preparing a dish where you will use almonds or pistachios, you can be sure that rose water will fit perfectly. The milky sweetness of these nuts is wonderfully mixed with the aroma of rose. Most traditional Indian and Middle Eastern sweets usually rely on this combination of flavor – a classic!
